#5 Michigan Avenue South of River

I tacked this one on just to get it done and to take advantage of the weather.  I've walked down this stretch of Michigan Avenue many, many times.

#34 Oak Park: Hemingway

Who knew Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park?  He lived here for his first 20 years.  His birth house offers 45 minute guided tours.  His childhood home and elementary schools are on the walk too.  Interesting because I was in Key West, Florida a few months ago and visited his home there too.

#33 Oak Park Frank Lloyd Wright

A warm, sunny day.  57 degrees on March 1st!  Fantastic day to take the green line to the end.

I've taken the tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright house and studio before so today I just walked and enjoyed the weather.

Two massive cathedrals on this walk.  Pulaski Park has a big community center building.  Not much else about this walk.  It borders the expressway so it's not very scenic.

Many of the shops and cafes listed on the card have been replaced with new shops and cafes.  I've learned that many businesses have a 10 to 15 year lifespan in Chicago.  It was partly sunny but cold enough to give me rosy cheeks.  I stopped at a coffee shop to warm up at the end.

Iconic landmark in Chicago.  Free for Illinois residents in Jan, Feb and Mar.  Perfect for a cold, snowy, wintry day.  I spent 6 hours and walked 4 miles INSIDE the museum.  I hit all the favorites (Hopper's Nighthawks, Wood's American Gothic, Seurat's Sunday Afternoon) and even caught a talk in the modern wing.  Informative and thought provoking.  I always like looking at the Greek and Roman coins and pottery and sculpture.  Still don't get Pollack though.  Seriously, even he admits, "I am not aware of what I am doing."

Lots to explore here.

Started to snow during this walk.  Mid afternoon so all bars were closed.  Not much going on.
