#41 Little Italy

Nice walk.  Al's Italian Beef got a street named after it.  A funeral was letting out of The Shrine of our Lady of Pompeii as I walked by. I lingered.  The bells were tolling slowly and the large crowd mingled quietly in the sunshine.  After the hearse pulled away the crowd slowly dispersed.

Noticeably clean sidewalks and properties.  I wondered why.

#40 Greektown and Jane Addams Hull House

A beautiful, sunny day, almost 50 degrees.  Started in Greektown with its restaurants and Hellenic Museum.  Duh. It was a Monday so museums were closed.  Also, it was Pulaski Day so public libraries were also closed.  I started this walk a street north of what was on the card so that I could take a start selfie in front of the statue at Monroe and Halsted.

Greektown stretches for only a few blocks to Van Buren where the Hellenistic Museum is.  This card includes an additional ten minute walk to the Jane Addams Hull House museum on the UIC campus.  Interesting story.  Alas, it was Monday so I didn't get to learn much more than was on the plaque.

I tacked this one on just to get it done and to take advantage of the weather.  I've walked down this stretch of Michigan Avenue many, many times.

#34 Oak Park: Hemingway

Who knew Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park?  He lived here for his first 20 years.  His birth house offers 45 minute guided tours.  His childhood home and elementary schools are on the walk too.  Interesting because I was in Key West, Florida a few months ago and visited his home there too.

#33 Oak Park Frank Lloyd Wright

A warm, sunny day.  57 degrees on March 1st!  Fantastic day to take the green line to the end.

I've taken the tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright house and studio before so today I just walked and enjoyed the weather.
